AEOLIS. Aegae. Trajan Decius, 249-251. Medallion (Bronze, 40 mm, 38.08 g, 12 h), M. Aur Paulos, strategos. ΑΥΤ Κ Γ ΜЄϹ ΚΥΙΝ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΔЄΚΙΟϹ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius to right, seen from behind. Rev. ЄΠΙ Ϲ Μ ΑΥΡ ΠΑΥΛΟΥ ΑΙΓΑЄΩΝ Zeus standing front, head to left, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left. RPC IX 569.7 (this coin). Very rare. A bold and impressive medallion. Pierced twice and with two additional attempted drill holes, otherwise, very fine.
